The 2017 M1 gives the same secure feeling as the previous M1. It comes with some customization options. The new M1 comes with a better sound, better adjustability and more forgiveness while offering similar, appreciated, design. Although the footprint is 4% bigger, the difference is not that visible compared to the old model. The hosel has also improved from the old plastic to aluminum materials. It can also adjust the loft and lie by 2 degrees.
The new designed ensure a larger footprint and better performance. The carbon materials together with the new connection design save a total of 11g in weight. This was also possible by using titanium in the body. The front part is similar to the previous model with 15grams in weight. It features the horizontal track for a 25 yard flight which can be adjusted to left or right. This offers more options to customize the flight of the ball and can be of great use in difficult or extreme angles. The spin is also affected by these variations as the shape of the shot of course.
You can choose from 3 stock shafts and combine them with the embedded moving weights from the track to improve and customize the look and the aerodynamics. The lighter aluminum and carbon design mean that the club is better constructed and will last more in time when compared to the previous model from 2016. It comes with a modern design which uses some black and white inspiration from the previous model.
The TaylorMade M1 Driver comes with improved materials and design. Customization is also improved although it might not be as straight forward as imagined for some golfers. The front weight, back weight and the hosel can be adjusted to your preference.
The learning curve can be significant, especially if you haven`t used the 2016 model. However, having the total of 27g to adjust and distribute to your liking sets the club on top of the market for this feature. If you`re looking to upgrade from the 2016 model it might be all that is needed to do so. For the rest of the golfers, this model could bring you al the adjustments you need with a bigger head which is more forgiving.
